1998-W Proof Platinum Eagle 1/2 oz, NGC PF 70

This exceptional example of the 1998-W Proof Platinum Eagle 1/2 oz represents one of the finest specimens available to collectors of modern American platinum coinage. The coin has achieved a perfect NGC PF 70 grade, reflecting flawless surfaces and exceptional eye appeal that define the highest tier of proof coinage.

The 1998-W Proof Platinum Eagles, struck at the West Point Mint, represent the second year of the American Platinum Eagle program's proof offerings. The half-ounce denomination provides an accessible entry point for collectors seeking quality platinum bullion in a more affordable format than the full ounce pieces. The proof finish displays the characteristic mirror fields and frosted design elements that distinguish these coins from their bullion counterparts.

The PF 70 designation indicates pristine surfaces with no visible imperfections under magnification, a remarkable achievement for any coin, particularly one composed of pure platinum. This grade places the coin among the finest examples certified by NGC, making it highly desirable for advanced collectors and investors seeking investment-grade platinum coinage.
